I find the current SD playback on iplayer with the PS3 very poor and juddery compared to a PC so I would expect HD content to be worse. :(

Are you wired ?

Wireless, but I have no other issues with wireless speeds and can stream 720p TV episodes from my PC and download things fine from the Internet at usually ~3Mbps which should be way in excess than what iplayer needs for SD streaming, oh and my 54g netbook is fine too.

To be honest we have been through this before though mate, To me its more of a video "jitter" not a bandwidth issue. Anyway, to stop this going off topic, you can re-read what I wrote in the iplayer thread if you can be bothered. :)

Actually thinking about it, I can use iplayer on my Touch Diamond2 mobile via the Orange and its smoother than the PS3, which definately suggests its a video processsing issue rather than a bandwidth issue, as I am pretty sure my HSDPA links is getting less than 1Mbps on average. :D

From Wednesday I noticed I'd lost the judderiness on my ps3. I'm pretty sure the 'judderiness' was from the version of flash used (which hasnt been updated), however things are a lot better as of this week.

Still not HD though!

Really? Hmm I will check it out as I have not actually tried it much recently. I too think its a flash issue as generally flash content on the PS3 is just not smooth like it is on my PC's.

Wonder how the judder has changed if flash has not been updated?

Incidently, was messing with vidzone content for a while this morning, and those videos are as smooth as silk, no judder/jitter which is good.

Does anyone know what the refresh rates are for the iplayer and the web browser? I saw some judder before when using it with a scaler and forgot to check the rates. It's possible that the iplayer is running 50 Hz and the PS3 is converting it to 60 Hz making it look juddery. I'll try and have a look tonight and see what the PS3 thinks it should be but I have no idea what the iplayer puts out.

I just checked it out and its much improved from what I remember, the judder seems to almost gone (where its not there in the original content). Its pretty much like for like with the PC now, nice. :) :smashin:

No idea what happened to get this improvement. Good spot urbansheperd. :)

PS: I noticed the PS3 specific control instructions have also gone, it used to quote buttons for fullscreen, now it doesn't seem to? Just seems to be a generic player.
