I have a sony KV28 which has a digital and an analogue tuner, the bbc channels were only ever available via the analogue tuner when I bought the Tv a few years ago. The number of digital channels I can receive has increased since I bought it but I am unable to tune BBC or BBC2 on the digital tuner. Does anyone know when (if ever) I'll be able to get a digital BBC signal without having to purchase a freeview box(waste of money with a digital TV). I get some BBC digital channels (and digital radio BBC channels) so can't understand why not BBc1 & BBC2? Anyone enlighten me?

There is something bizarre here. BBC (1)/BBC2 are transmitted on the most powerful multiplex - if you can get other channels its very odd you can't receive these two ? are you sure you've correctly used the Digital channel tuner/aquire channels menu on the tv ? (I have no experience of your model - sorry to be so vague) Regards, yt.

Tuning is very simple on these models so I'm happy I'm doing the right thing. When you tune digitally you scan up or down the service then it scans through the channels the bbc service is 41 (I think - I'm at work at the mo so its all from memory) and the bbc channels are found within this service. I will get the service and the channels off the TV tonight and post them next week.

Hi, This link gives the information you require

    www.bbc.co.uk/reception/tv_transmitters/tv_digit_full.shtml

According to this then (if you are in Sheffield) you receive BBC digital transmissions on Mux 1 (thats' quite standard, BBC is always mux 1) on UHF channel 52. If you can get the other BBC channels you should be able to get BBC1/2 the only thing I can think of is that local engineering work has temporarily closed these services - unlikley since yours ia major high power transmitter. Regards, yt.
