I don't blame beeb decision. It's ironic that you get the commercial lot whining over a B3 channel (and dig' kids) with unfair comp' rants and then they indulge in sporting (!) rediculous pricing wars. The beeb must have been prepared to lay out a lot of cash to have kept up thus far, so perhaps we'll lose terrestrial Sympsons but gain something else of worth...

A great shame. It's commercial pressure that pushed the price from £100K per ep to £700K per ep.

Makes even the region 2 box sets seem like a bargain.

I've always hated scumbag commercial stations, even more so now.

It seem a shame when a station gets something popular then an other out bids them, e.g. the Star Trek first showings (different incarnations) on BBC2, And now Enterprise second showing goes to Ch 4, LA Law on ITV etc. Slightly different Buffy on BBC2 and Angel on Ch 4.

Ideally I would love the BBC to broadcast these shows, but in reality they treat them so badly; Simpsons, X-Files, Buffy, Star Trek... they all get cancelled and moved around williy nilly and we never know when they are on. At least commercial channels show them at prime time and treat them with a little more respect.
The BBC ruined the X-Files for me - they kept moving it around and putting it on at such strange times that I kept missing it and just got completely lost and so just stopped watching it!
