Batwoman Season 1 TV Show Review & Comments

Thx for the review Cas.

I actually checked out of the Arrowverse at the start of this crop of Season's on Sky. I watched a couple of episodes of Arrow, Supergirl & The Flash before deciding I had stopped caring about the character's a while ago.

I am interested in trying out this series though but I'll probably wait till the whole thing is out and then binge the whole thing. I think that is what I am used to nowadays!

About the only thing I really watch week to week is Seal Team.

I'm currently going through 13 Reasons on Netflix. Pretty powerful stuff. Usually only get through a couple of episodes before I need a "break". Compelling story if a bit wearying in some aspects.

I hope you and family are keeping well.

Thanks for the Review Cas.

This has been out on Amazon Prime Germany for a little while - 8 episodes available here already. I tried watching the Pilot some weeks ago, but the Kate Kane persona put me off. Might give it another spin as I have time on my hands right now ;)

She took his suit (which only became "perfect when it fits a woman"), his equipment, his cave. She is a strong independent woman. Yay!

I used to watch the CW, it has some fun shows. Even Supergirl was watchable until it wasn't. Sorry Cas but this show is insanely bad. Apparently it has improved a little, but it lost 50% of its premiere audience and never really got them back outside of the crossover events. Then it lost them again.

This is the most I think I've ever disagreed with a review here.

I'd hoped that AV forums would be a bit less forgiving of this nonsense...

This needed a crossover episode where she got replaced by a better actress and writing team.
Rose was decent in Wick but then she only needed the brash fighter. In Orange, she had more opportunity to emote but again came off as a bit lacklustre in attitude and more shallow in style.

Just seen this review, and was wondering how many super hero shows/films do we need ? Maybe I'm a grumpy old git (scratch that - I am) but there seems to be so very many TV shows out there, and hardly any of them have the slightest appeal. They seem to be making shows to fill the time in a series schedule, rather than telling a tale.

The days of a tightly edited well told story seem to be well gone. It's more can we stretch this out to fill 8/10/12 episodes.....

Terrible. Don't recall exactly how much of the first episode I saw before I turned it off, maybe 20 - 30 minutes. Should have gone straight to landfill/incinerator.

this has been one of the most reviled and criticized TV shows of recent times and its US viewing figures literally fell through the floor. it is widely regarded as the most awful example of poor writing character development and woke nonsense ..................and it gets 7/10!

saw the first of ep1 which i thought was awful and thought naaah

I've been watching on the CW app on VPN, and it's fine as the next iteration of hero in the Arrowverse. In fact I'd go as far as to say its currently the most interesting entry, as it is actually retelling a proper storyline from the New52 reinvention of the character, as @Casimir Harlow alluded to and the 'Alice' nemesis backstory is really compelling. If you accept the quality for what it is, and it's in no way a downgrade to the current quality of the other shows, it's just fine as modern superhero entertainment. It's also one of the first times I decided all the 'online hate' was almost entirely without any merit whatsoever. The only doubt I have is whether there is enough 'creativity' once the 'Alice' storyline has run its course to still make it interesting.

Got through a few episodes of this and it just felt like they decided to skip any possibly interesting preamble and head straight to the incestuous soap like plot lines sprinkled a bit 4th wave feminism over it.

Comic book TV and movies will soon be in the same death throes as the comic book industry itself is in right now if the current woke trend continues.

Then again maybe I'm out of touch in expecting a little thought and genuine, not forced, variety in my entertainment but I think that's what's called 'toxic fandom' nowadays and is to blame for all the world's wrongs along with crap tv and movies not doing as well as they clearly expect.

Could be worse, they could have retconned Batman and made him a Crazy Rich Asian with a gay butl... o_O

And what's happening to the reviews for this type of entertainment on this site? Starting to get a little mainstreamy safe, looking for some Hollywood sponsorship money or something?

I'd rather get pegged than watch another episode of that, although it nearly amounts to the same thing
Haha, I'm sure Batwoman would have a utility on her stolen utility belt to help you out with that. ;)

I would careless if batwoman was obese, left handed, transgender of colour and had a disability

If the story, writing and
Character development was good and made sense..... It does not

There's a 4th wave? I'm not sure it's going to survive the 3rd mate lol.

Gotham High, Chinese Bruce, South American Selina and white villain. One out of three ain't bad.

I wonder if they'll ever make a Superhero book where an overweight superhero "rushes" into battle to fight villains with her magic....

Apparently so, started a few years and combines the virtues of 3rd wave with... wait for it... 'internet tools' - I'm not even joking about that, we are all so fudged.

We're all going turn into Snowflakes needing a Safespace soon while living in fear of being cancelled if they keep churning this crap out, need some purple hair dye to blend in - anyone know if that's an essential item right now? :p
