Bought the region 2 mini series the other day and the picture quality in most scenes is exceptionally grainy. Is this the way it was shot or do I just have a ropey copy of it? I don't remember it being that bad on Sky1!

    any thoughts??

I think it was intended that way, the higher quality of dvd may just make the effect more noticable. But I could be wrong..................

Yep, the picture on the mini series DVD is delibratly grainy for effect. Problem is , is that the grain does not seem to be constant, and the picture varies in quality through out the running time. Great series though :smashin:

it is a little weird shooting Battlestar Galactica in high definition and then deliberately making it grainy to give it a more "documentary feel"

I think they were trying to do something like The Shield where different cameras will have different qualities. I don't think they pull this off, but the noise didn't detract much from enjoying the, frankly superb, program.
