just seen this news, I hope it is wrong...................

    Damn you sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the great link web site.
According to TV Zone Magazine (Issue 193), "the second season’s UK premiere [on Sky One] has now been put back to January 2006." Previously, the now defunct BBC Cult TV site reported that Season 2 would start in September/October.

    from HRN filght deck Canada
Sky One will delay airing the Season 2 episodes until January of 2006. So it looks like the Americans will be seeing all 20 episodes of Battlestar Galactica before our friends do overseas.

Excuse me while I vent some anger...........

Cant download, but there is a fantastic forum member that is helping me with this problem. However that is not the point of this thread. :)

I have just spoken to a rather friendly chap at sky and he gave me a number of the program/viewer relations dept. I phoned them and they said they have no information on the matter what so ever

I will post again if I can find out anymore info.

    Dave,

i can see the day in the near future when DVD's will be released at the same time as the TV show airs - DVD is a cash cow and i'm sure they will really start to bleed it dry.

As for sky, my opinions are already common knowledge round here :D why people waste their money is beyond me. the service is shocking in terms of quality and by all accounts is getting worse. You can certainly expect a drop in the quality of the standard service when they start HD.so they can get the punters in.

i've been investigating the idea of downloading (but not having a DVD burner it makes life a bit difficult) However, i can upload to my xbox and watch via media centre. however, the only real issue i have is quality of the image. i've got episode 1 (S2) at home at the moment so i'll be transfer to my xbox later tonight to have a look.

    Gary

    dont bet on it.

The US scifi channel is curently showing the first part of season 1. The last epiosde will air at the end of sept. They then have a break and the season resumes in the new year.
Most of the time sky will start to show SG1 ,Atlantis, and some others in sept/oct time. We do not have a break apart from one at xmas time and so end up seeing the first part last and the last part first if you see what I mean.

We got the very first season before the US because Sky had something to do with the making of the first season. This is not the case for the second ,although I could be wrong in that respect.

I doubt there will be a dvd release of the second season before Jan 2006 as the show would not have even finished in the US at that time. :(

No, that would squash the viewing figures, which would drastically reduce advertising revenue.

sky have a viewing hole in January now as that was when Enterprise aired, so it makes sence for them to shunt BG to that slot, even if it is annoying for those of us waiting to see it

Yes, but you effectively cut your marketing budget in half...that's why I can see the day coming when cinema releases and dvd releases coincide.

I doubt cinema takings or dvd sales / rentals would drop, if at all.

Too bad if it is a January premiere but even with NTL clamping down I still won't be missing my fix:)

There is a lot of new stuff coming in the Autumn season so perhaps there is some sense in SKY's decision (if it comes to pass) to keep some scifi for early '06.

When is HD supposed to start in the UK? Do u think they might decide to keep BSG season 2 to be one of their "new" shows they air in HD?

The current US season 2 isnt actually being aired in HD. But im sure it is being filmed in HD, which means any channel that airs programs in HD could do so.

It would be very welcome if they did:)

It all depends what James considers to be "early 2006" and yep BSG is filmed in HD but probably won't be broadcast in HD in the US until such time as Universal HD repeat the season next year.

They are doing a nationwide enforement of the soft cap no doubt in preperation for the new services which are due some time this year which are a standard 10meg connection with payments based on useage levels.

Of course just like virtually everyother ISP has done they blame the users and not their own marketing and infrastructure thus promoting the ignorant users to support them and actually believe the propoganda that all the network problems are down to a few people downloading more than 1 gig a day. The idea that their whole network is so compromised is laughable so you are left with the conclusion that are creating a situation which forces a number of their subscribers off the service even though they pay the highest fees.
NTL want people to pay for broadband but not exactly use it as such:(

I've been warned to download less than 30gig in September or else:)

If you go into your local Comet their show reel for Sky HD ( 'Coming 2006' ) features Battlestar in various sections...it would seem to confirm the hypothesis that Sky are holding this back for a full launch with the HD service in 2006.

The demo is running on a PC with a HDMI distribution box to a line of their HD Ready sets. I have to say that the Battlestar CGI looks awesome, and does appear to be HD rather than scaled SD. (A lot of the other clips 'comb' with fast movement...the BSG bit look very good even with the fast movement and typical quick panning of the CGI.

    Very nice:)

Got the first season in HD but looks like it could be a longtime before the second season can be "aquired" so perhaps SKY1 HD may be the answer.
