No , there is a single player campaign mode which is a good way of honeing multiplayer skills. The single player AI has been improved a lot since BF1942 but you still get gangs of troops milling around on some maps.
You can ramp up the number of bots to 64 which does make for some intense playing , i've even forgotton sometimes i'm only playing single player mode.

    Shoot back!!
The object of the game depends on the map type your playing. Have you read the manuel? It descibes all the various multiplayer options.
Most of the maps i prefer to play involve capturing and holding onto flags which move your oponents counter down to zero.

It's really impressive when you see someone jump in a Chinook , tag a tank and drop it in the right place. Had a great game last night with some of our American cousins and team play for a change was great. It adds so much to a round when you get most guys playing as a team rather than larking around on their own.
