Reportedly the CW network are in earlier discussions in developing a Battle Royale tv series.

'Hunger Games' killed any chances of the once rumored "Battle Royale" film.

I'd imagine it would have to be toned down a bit. Can't see a mainstrean US TV show happily showing kids relentlessly offing each other in violent and bloody ways.

    Regards

Yes I agree with Mark, surely it's better to make Hunger games into a tv series in a few years time, Battle Royale isn't really family entertainment

    Hi,

In my opinion. I don't want a BATTLE ROYALE TV show. Not only is the subject matter going to make it wholly unsuitable for any network except Showtime or HBO, but the original film was great in its own right, without warranting a sequel movie, and a TV show too.

I'm also not entirely sure how you can expand upon the film, into a weekly TV show, of 13-22 episodes. It would end-up quite boring, unless you start giving viewers back-stories to every single character.

Yes you'd have to focus on one character every week and the outcome, bet the Lost fans would love all the padding !

So they'll go around offing each other, whilst you see what they are like at school as the backstory.

I can see it now, they'll be the bully, the bullied, the fat kid good at maths, the cheerleader, the sporty one etc.

And then they'll find an underground bunker, the first series will end without any closure or progress (whilst announcing that the main actors are lined up for 6 more) and i'll get bored.

The original film is brilliant and deserves to be left alone !
