    Yup. Remember this well.

"The Seven Samurai"/"The Magnificent Seven" in outer space. Should have been totally crap, but ended up being endearingly dumb fun.

Immortal line delivered by The Valkyrie, a large breasted scantily clad warrior maiden, as she prepares to sacrifice herself and her ship :

"You've seen nothing until you've seen a Valkyrie go down!"

    Class! :smashin:

As to the score, just pick up "Wrath of Khan" also by Horner - I think both scores were seperated at birth! :)

    Quality movie

Powerhouse performance by Sybil Danning as St Exmin of the Valkyrie.
I remember seeing it at the cinema when it was first released and I still love it now.

Had huge fun with this one at the local film club when I was a kid . The ony projection room in town was in the town hall so some local delboy got ahold of 35mm prints ( probably borrowed from the cinema up the road). No exhibition license but he charged about £1 entry so it was always packed. It got shut down after a few years when the odeon up the road complained!

Huge cheers every time a baddie ship got blown up , lots of booing and hissing at the villains , brilliant laugh!

Remember seeing a few b movies and 3d films there too!

Used to love this film as a kid - I remember the day my parents first got a betamax vcr and it was on tv so I recorded it and watched it every day for the next six months!

Saw it recently (on Sky Movies I think) and it brought back a lot of memories, especially the sound effects - as for the score, I agree that most of Horner's incidental music sounds the same, but the actual theme is quite distinctive...

I don't have it myself, but I've heared the video transfer's a bit grainy but the 5.1 remix is surprisingly effective. A couple of reasonable commentaries on it too.

    so I hear.

Surely this film must win the award for the most crapest space craft design - from what I can remember it was a sort of hammerhead shark with a pair of boobies

Good way to kill a couple of idle hours - if you like the soundtrack but can't find it, buy Star Trek 2 or 3, Krull, Cocoon or any other early james horner - its all the same stuff!

I have this film on Region 1 DVD. The picture is not so good mainly co's a poor print has been supplied. I'll check out the spec's in more detail when I get back from me Hol's (I'm in Malta at the moment).

This movie the two Star Trek and Krull are Horners finest work. Very nautical in style.

As for the model and design work for the spaceships, I think you'll find that Jim Cameron was involved quite heavily on this side of things. Personally I dig the design !

Yup according to the poster (below) James "King of the World" Cameron did the art direction...

You can also see the ship with the big boobies! I remember the ship's voice being really irritating too!
