I've done it with a 3G ipod (that's 3rd generation) and it used the same tools, was pretty straightforward. The green thing is like a flat plastic screwdriver, very thin that goes in the cracks in the case and pops it open. Then there'll just be a simple screw somewhere holding the battery in. No reason not to give it a go really and the increased MaH might get you more battery time too.
