I have recently purchased a JVC DR-GV1800EG digital camcorder and was surprised to find the battery fully discharged over a period of 24 hours with the camera switched off. On contacting JVC I was informed that this was normal and the battery had to be disconnected from the camera when not in use to prevent discharge. The batteries on my previous (Canon) camcorder would last for weeks in the camera. My mobile phone has a similar Li-ion battery and that lasts 4 or 5 days with the phone on. Is there a fault - or is it bad design? Can it be fixed?
