Has anyone heard anything about the Batman films being re-released as special editions?
I have never bought them because the quality of the current releases is so poor... However, you can get them pretty cheap in the sales now so I was thinking about getting them, but I will wait for special editions instead if they are on the horizon?

    Warner Bros :thumbsdow :suicide:

Yeah, I too would be interested in special editions of these movies. I The thing I would really look forward to most is the directors commentary on Batman & Robin, just to hear how they managed to make such a turkey!!!

The only copies I have seen of Batman are the 4:3 versions, even though I have it on W/S on VHS. And all of them are in snapper cases so I have not bothered, although they have been very cheap.

I did buy Batman the other day from HMV which was in a two for one i.e it worked out at £6.50 so just couldnt resist, i would also buy it when and if a special edition does come out. The picture quality is fine, it does have 5.1 sound and is 1.78 anamorphic

There was talk of a special edition, but with Tim Burton currently working on a remake of Charlie and the chocolate factory don't expect to see it soon.

I have the R1 dvd's. Batman picture and sound are good for the age of the movie. Batman Returns however is much better, especialy the sound.

I remember when it came out they use to have it on display in Comet to show of the surround sound, I think it was the scene where thy let the bats loose at the Ice Princess.

Do remember that Batman forever and Batman + Robin where cut by the BBFC - Forever was quite badly cut and not just violence a lot of Two face's dialogue was cut.

Batman Returns was snipped as well. R1 disc has a scene where Michelle Pfeiffer puts an aerosol can into a microwave. Also scenes showing martial arts weaponry were trimmed in the UK.

Personally I feel that they did not cut enough out of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.

They stink up the place bad!

Didn't know that about Batman returns, tho: for my money it's by far the best of the series and i may well buy the R1 now. Cheers.

    regards,

I remember reading something about a scene from Batman being cut too, the joker spraying acid on jerry halls face, anyone know if this scene exists, i recall reading that Warners took the scene out for a 12 certificate.
