Looking good so far - it is blooming rare i get to see two great movies at the cinema in the row, but having seen sin city today I can't wait until this one now!

..and then I have cinderella man and Charlie and the Choccy Factory to look forward to .

Lets just hope I can avoid Mr and Mrs Smith amongst these classics :rotfl:

Aaaggghhh!! Don't tempt me with such things! As a huge Bats fan I mustn't read/see any spoilers for this film just as I did with X and X2. :(
Could you give me the gist of whether the reviewers thought it was good?

Can't wait though, I'll be re-reading Year One soon in preparation.

I'm with you eviljohn, I'm a MASSIVE Batman fan. I reckon they should do a film based on Knightfall, that would be awesome!

Must stay away from this thread, don't want any spoilers ruining this for me. I haven't seen any of the new trailers. Please let this be great. :)

There seems to be a variation of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for this one.

It seems to fall between two camps...those that love it for its darkness, character development etc....and those that are not keen due to its lack of action!

Out of the two I am likely to fall into the former if that is the case!

I'm not a massive Batman fan, although enjoyed the original Batman movie with Michael Keaton...I didn't enjoy any of the others, but the trailers for this one have wet my appetite as a good film rather than being a batman film.

Anyway a couple of quotes from different reviewers at aintitcool.com

The funniest quote from a negative review was "What does eastern martial arts have to do with batman?" :D

I've booked a few tickets to see this on IMAX, afternoon of 17th.
It's on at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford is anyone's interested.

Not been to the IMAX for years but apparently it's awesome now. Digital projection and an amazing sound system, 10-storey screen. Should be good.

is it wrong to be semi erect thinking about the propect of the greatest batman film ever? :D

I don't know about semi-erect but I'm certainly salivating about it! Batman: Year One was great and from the trailers I've seen BB just builds on it (the latest one that was shown with Sin City literally made my jaw drop :D ). I'm trying to avoid the stuff on the web and reviews as I don't want to spoil my own impressions of the film.

Maybe we'll get the whole Batman series up to and including Dark Knight Returns! How sweet that would be. :)

You're right that does seem like the consistent message. However I've got a slightly nagging feeling I might be disappointed... and I didn't even think I was hyping it too much!

Btw congrats on getting 4000 posts!

Some of the negative reviewers seem to be struggling with the darkness and adult sensibility of the movie. They seem to be under the impression that as it's based on a comic strip it should "behave" in a certain manner. Their disappointment seems to stem from what they aren't seeing on the screen.

Don't they realise that dark and grim is what The Bat is all about and is exactly what the fans want? Like I said on another thread, can you imagine if Warner had the bottle to make this movie in the style of "Sin City"? Black and white and totally adult in content and style, to the point of a 15 or 18 certificate. Then let the Joker really do his stuff!

Can't wait until next weekend - Imax here we come!!!
