does anyone know what the difference is between the three sub modes - mono, centre and LFE? this is asked with reference to the 561. also does each mode have specific effects depending on whether speakers are set to large / small?

    cheers

When speakers are set to large, they handle the bass, although speaker protection settings can affect this.

In general - when speakers are set to small, the sub handles augments the bass of the 'small' speakers as follows: Mono - sub augments the front speakers, center - sub sugments the center speaker, LFE - sub used for LFE only, ie if speakers set to large. If you set speakers as small and select LFE, you will loose all bass except that on LFE.

Of course, in a Meridian world, the definition of 'small' and 'large' speakers is very different from others. Most speakers, even quite large ones would normally be set to small.
