My 80 year old Mum has a six year old LG 43" Smart TV which is showing it's age.
She only watches Freeview channels and Netflix, so only watches SD/HD content.
Any recommendations for an easy to use TV for her?

If by 'showing its age' you mean the inbuilt apps are getting creaky then adding a streaming stick would bring it up to date for a lot less than a new TV. That would take care of Netflix, presumably Freeview on the LG is still fine.

You can add a Roku and use HDMI CEC so the TV turns on and off when you use the Roku remote. It will even switch the TV to the correct input.

Otherwise there are Roku TVs sold in Argos from Hisense. The remote is small but its probably the easiest and most logical to use smart TV.

From a picture quality perspective, you're not going to get something fantastic at smaller sizes so I'd be hesitant to change TV if you're looking for a better picture.

That is unless you go for the new 42" LG C2 OLED.
