I reckon this is worth pointing out here, so here goes.

www.empiredirect.co.uk have 10% off all widescreen TV's including plasmas. This translates to a Tosh 42WP27 for just over £2800, the Hitachi PD3000 for just over £2700 and the Samsung comes in at just over £1930.

I think the Tosh is the best buy there, I paid £500 more for mine just a few months ago.

    :)

Are you a FD customer to get extra since empire are just generally doing 10% off.

I just cancelled my 433MXE order and replaced it with them saving £350 so big thanks to mixmanx, I owe you a pint or two...

Now what can I spend that £350 on ?

    T :D

I am an FD customer. However you do not need to log onto the site to follow the link to empiredirect.
I calculated the extra discount is 2.5%.

Wife is out spending the savings

Erm. Delivery date is after july 10th for the hitachi 42pd3000 (yes you read that correctly!)

Tried to get one for my mum&dad. Hitachi are totally sold out for 2 months of production. empire's allocation is not due until date above. (they told me this themselves!)

    tonymccandless,

on their site it says that they have only silver teble stand.

Did you order table stand or wall mount?

I am planning to do this as well. Any ideas when it should be delivered.

Another question - it's not clear is this offer finishes on Sunday or on Monday?

I think it is very bad that they debit you card when you order, also illegal I believe.

qed-uk do the same thing. I don't mind if they dispatch it within a couple of days of the order but if they're out of stock they'll stick take your money which seems ridiculous.

Hi, I have ordered my Hitachi 42pd3000, went through the FD website and got it for 2,641.12 plus 50.00 delivery.

Said that I would pay by cheque when available (3 weeks they reckon), no problem they said, will ring as soon as it is in and you can then send cheque and when cheque clears arrange delivery.

As I have a visa debit card on my current account I will pay through that as soon as they have them in.

I have to say a big thankyou to the mixmanx for saving me a lot of money!!

Even if it takes longer than the said 3 weeks I do not think I will get a better price than this anywhere, so wait will be worth it.

    Regards
    Bazel

    Yippeee !!

I've ordered an Pio 433MXE as well from them !

just a pain you can't give them an alternative delivery address:

'mother, come and house-sit for a day !!'

still worth the massive saving !

cheers for the heads-up - we all owe you a pint, esp for the extra FD saving !

After what has seemed an age, I decided to take the plunge and order the Hitachi 42PD3000 today, due to the 10% off at ED.

I ordered online and so wasn't aware of the likely delay in delivery meaning a wait until July. Nor was I aware they debited your card straight away.....

Does anyone know the legal standpoint on this? I see there was an earlier thread suggesting this was illegal?

I don't think it is illegal. Once they take payment I think they are obliged to supply the goods as the buyer has fulfilled their part of the contract of sale. But, I do not know if they have to supply in a reasonable time or how long is actually reasonable.

I ordered two Denon AVD-2000 Processors from SDB, they had them advertised for £280 each. They debited money from my credit card, I waited two months, phoning them up several times. Then said they cannot get the items. It took them two months to refund the money. And that's only after threatening them with contacting Visa and trading standards.

    They have changed their name.

Had a tel call this afternoon from ED. They stated that due to the Hitachi being out of stock for at least a couple of weeks and the high demand, if I still wished to go ahead, it would be as a "special order" item.

Guy on the phone just stated that this would guarantee my order, or otherwise I wouldn't get one.......

Of course the catch to this was the proviso that they debited my card straight away.

He quoted me around two weeks to fulfill the order, so I'll wait and see.....

Been teetering on the edge of going for the Hitachi, rang up to be told they were not taking anymore orders, they have all their future consignment of 45 taken, tried a couple of other models but no stock. Ah well have to wait until someone wants to upgrade to a Pan 6

Similar vein - chap from ED rang me this evening re my 433MXE...

'out of stock due to high demand from 10% off weekend - would I like the HDE instead ?'

'for the same price ?' I ask 'err no' he replies

Transpires it'll be a 2-3 week delay on the MXE, BUT, they won't charge my card until they ring back when stock is due to double-check I still want to place the order. (and at the cheaper price naturally)

Flashman, might be worth ringing them back and saying 'don't debit my card, but keep the order at the same price please' !

I was also told they would not debit my card until they had a delivery date for the Hitachi 42pd300. Claimed mid June as they had orders for 54 units.

    No pain no gain!!!

Yeah they called me this morning to say there were two left in the warehouse, but my Visa card was declined! Imagine my  as I call Visa & say 'I'm loaded get me out of here!' er what I meant was I'm not impressed they put a stop on my order, after giving them the all clear security wise, it went through & I got my Pio MXE, damn lucky I was in, otherwise someone else would have got MY plasma.
Big thanks to Andy at Empire Direct for holding an MXE while I whipped Visa into shape.
