Anyone have an AV amp kicking around they no longer want/need?! I'm obviously not expecting the latest and greatest for £50 delivered, but my trusty old Pioneer has finally given up and I need a cheap replacement asap!!

Not too fussed what brand it is etc, however I would prefer something with a bit of oomph (my front speakers are rather large), and a remote control is must.

I might be able to come up with a few more £'s for the right amp but not much more. Also, I don't mind traveling a fair distance from Norwich to collect in person.

Pretty much everything considered.....and thanks in advance for any and all offers!!

I wouldn't assume that because you have large speakers you need lots of oomph - what matters is how hard they are to drive (and larger speakers are often more sensitive than smaller ones, though I don't know about yours). Hope you find something you like!

I'm very aware of speaker sensitivity etc, but genuine thanks for the tip.

I'm using a pair of TDL RTL 4's, but they've been modified and need a fair amount of juice to get the best out of them......thankfully, I live in a detached house!! :D

Good - certainly didn't mean to patronise, but people often assume that big speakers need lots of power. Some do need a load of power, of course :D

I'm tempted as I know how good ES amps are with stereo audio, but I'm mainly looking for at least DD and DTS etc.....thanks for the offer though!! :smashin:

May I ask what's the fault with your Pioneer? Does it still function is some form or another or is it a gonner?

It's a goner.....it went snap, crackle and pop!!

It didn't have a very easy life in my possession to be honest but had served me very well, and owes me absolutely nothing at all. Just need a stop gap for a few months until I've saved up enough for something more up to date.

Ah ok, just thought if it was still partially working then you could maybe have used it as a processor. Is it DVDs/ blu rays you mainly watch? ~If your DVD/ blu ray player has 5.1 analogue outputs you can still get DD/ DTS via the 5.1 input on the Sony amp. Anyway if my amp is not to you liking then good luck with your search.

A mixture of all sorts to be honest. Blurays and gaming through my PS3 via HDMI or optical, Sky HD via HDMI or optical. Music either through my CD player or MP3's from my PC via 3.5mm to stereo etc.....my receiver hasn't had it easy!!

I really rate Sony ES and QS hardware, but I need something a little more up to date, which at least includes Dolby Digital. Shame though.

I have a Sony Dolby Digital processor, it's also an ES range model, that I can add with the amp. Also acts as a perfect switching hub for all your audio equipment. They're a great matching combo and I could do a good deal for both if you'd still be interested?

It'll be way over what I've got to spend at the moment so I'll have to pass. It's a struggle, but I've got to be very strict with what I spend.....married father of two. My money doesn't belong to me any more!! :(

I have a Sony STR-DG500 6.1 silver amp, in great - probably excellent condition. It's late at night to have a close look for any scratches/defects but I can report back tomorrow if you are interested. Sound wise no problems at all, all channels work, lcd screen, volume, buttons etc. Remote control is as new and i do have the setup mic, antenna and pretty sure the manual as well! The only thing missing is the original box but I have plenty spare to double box it for delivery.
    Asking for £55 delivered :)

Just to give you an option, especially as you mentioned that 2-channel performance was important, I have a Marantz SR7400 in silver.

In excellent condition with original packaging and the Marantz multi-remote included. The only issue is that the closure flaps on a couple of the optical SPDIF inputs have come off. The usual issue with these connectors - they still work fine.

Also available at £55 and I could get it to Norwich train station (or other nearby station) for you to collect.

Now you're spoilt for choice :D

Massive thank you for your offer, George, but I'm going to go ahead with Peridot's offer of the Marantz. The extra power and connections should come in very handy!!

Peridot, if you could PM me your details I'll get payment sorted asap. I'm in and out of the house quite a lot today though, so please bare with me!!
