Hi Chaps,

I thought i had a vertical size problem when setting my PJ for anamorphic sources.
The problem was a lack of vertical size adjustment i.e zero, this according to the techies on the AVS forum, is normal for a Barco & will quite happily run with the low settings apparantly without any ill effects or damage, the electrohome PJ's also suffered this.
There is a mod/tweak available which gives the vertical sizing more adjustment, the info is in the Barco service manual.......now does anyone have a copy of the 808s service manual

I have just finished making my 8ft 16:9 screen, cost less than £85 to make & picture is superb better in fact than i thought, will post some piccys to my webpage as soon as i get time.

    Cheers

    Tim

Tim, who set your projector up initially?
I doubt there is any kind of mod for the projector. You'd be far better off setting the projector up in such a way that there is headroom enough to be able to sqeeze he vertical height more. The might mean repositioning your projector.
My projector (1209) has a vertical size of 13 when in anamorphic mode.
BTW I use the video essentials DVD paused on the anamorphic test pattern and a measuring tape to get the right proportions in anamophic mode.

i agree . my electrohome had the same prob (i could not quite get the image squeezed down anough for ananmophic

i repositioned my projector a little closer to the screen to over come other problems . this had the efect the i had to increase the size horizontaly which gave the vertical size ajustment anough range

now i just have the pj projecting on to a 4:3 screen and use the HCPC to do all the changing of aspect ratios so i don't have to switch aspects with the pj (i don't have a remote so this is easyer)

The right person to ask for advice for the vertical adjustment for BarcoGraphics 808s is
Peter Renold at Barco in Reading.
This problem i have only come across with
BarcoGraphics 808s installs.
The BarcoGraphics 808 do not have this problem.
The 808s and 808 are not the same projectors.

BTW Stuart if it is that important that you should know i have supplied and installed the
BarcoGraphics for Tim.

Atul, please don't feel like I was trying to point an acusing finger. I had the impression that Tim had set the machine up himself. And if this was the case I was going to suggest that he get someone in to reposition it.

    Chaps,
The installation was fine no problems.
This vertical size problem seems to only affect the 808s & according to Curt Palme (a well regarded tech on the AVS forum) reckons there is a tweak in the 808s service manual.
I did a search on the AVS forums & another couple of techs the 808s will run quite happily with a low v.size.
According to the "LENS" program the distance is spot on for an 8ft screen.

    Tim,
There is a pot on the vertical board for this adjustment but have misplaced my service manual.
I've been looking for it since yesterday. When I find it I will let you know what to do.

    Best Wishes
Eric

The Service manual has diagram of every single component and how to test it. I don't think you need that. Normally £65-100 big leaver arch file.

Barco's come with Installation and an owners manual which basically tels you how to take it out of the box. (I like that bit cos where's the manual.....in the box) It tells you where to put the PJ and that's about it.

What I think you need is the owners manual which gives instauation on how to set it up an what every adjustment does.
