    Hi,

I have faced a problem with my Barco Data 708. Suddenly during the movie the projector gives loud 'pop' and the picture vanishes. The picture cames automatically back after couple of seconds and stays on normally. The 'pop' sound is like an explosion of light bulb. The projector has done this now twice. What might be wrong with it? Any known problems with 708?

708 is connected to HTPC with following setup:

    NTSC: 1080*720@71,926Hz
    PAL: 1080*576@75Hz
    RGBS connection

The projector has ~2000 hours and been working perfectly more than two years now.

    Thanks!

I'm with Phill it sounds like the EHt has jumped to earth either inside or outside the tube. This tends to happen a more frequetly when the weather changes particularly the humidity.

Once or twice I would not worry.

Extra High Tension, I've always assumed ( == Extra High Voltage. The term tension used to be used wrt voltage, not as common these days.)
