barco 701 remote?

Is there any way of getting a universal remote to work with a barco 701 without having to learn from an origanal barco remote.

I'm in the same boat....except I've got the Runco version of the Barco 708...the Runco 940. I called Runco and they only want $295 for a remote!!!
What a joke....I asked the tech...why so expensive....it only turns the thing on and off and controls a few functions....it's not even a learning remote....!!!but he had no answer other than "we've got 6 of 'em do you want one or not."

So I'm still looking as well!

I,ve seen a few original remotes on ebay, But its not worth me buying an original remote as i would like to buy universal to control everything,

Think i'll just have to get off the sofa to turn the projector off...

I try to learn my YAM remote (from a 1400 AV) with my BARCO 708 remote. It did not work.
Other remotes i have worked .

I really think that old protocol from BARCO remotes (ppm) cannot be learned by programmable remotes.
Maybe the new version (from later 708 and Cine 7 ) RC5 protocols are learnable by the universal remotes.

So you may want to identify the protocol on the RUNCO model (for 701s it is the old one) before making a purchase.

PS - BARCO 708 MM with ppm protocol remote (the old big , ugly, squared , doorstop like remote model) :)

A pronto works fine with barco,i think it actually works better than the origionals as you can programme it to your own spec. Download the codes from remotecentral

Thanks for you help guys.

Think I will look in to a pronto remote, sounds ideal... ;)
