ello again ppl,
I have a barco data 650, its a pain but the picture is worth it ,
the only thing that really buggs me is the fact that on certain scenes of a movie (bright scenes) is makes a buzzing noise, almost like a crackle, but its quite distracting esspecially if its not a loud scene, what do you guys think could be causing this ?
I have been told by other bd 650 owners that its quite normal, but no one seems to know why it does this, also what can i do to hush the beast ? is it likley to overheat if i block the vents ?
any thoughts are appreciated :D

If you block the vents to any equiment that draws up to 7amps it may get a bit warmer than you expept, DON'T.:nono:

The noise comes as you say during high energy draws associated with bright pictures. The noise is created by the Quadrupler. This is the device that takes the mains voltage in and keeps quadrupling it and feeding differnt levels to the projector. Eventually you get 32,000volts which the tubes need.

Inside the quadrupler are a series of seperating layers to stop it all arcing out inside. Over time these get a bit stiff and start rattling hence the noise you hear.
You could try changing out the quad but as you already indicate they all do it a bit some more than others. Most of the 600 range did this I'm afraid. (it's what Barco call a feature rather than a fault)

Turning the contrast down will reduce it.
After that it is a hush box
