Would be grateful for answers to a few questions.

1.How do the Barco 1609 and 1209 compare for Home use.
    2.When was it in production.
    3.Was it available as a 1609 or 1609s.
4.Are the tubes rebuildable and/or still available new?
    Many thanks
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

Will try and answer a few of your questions as I use a 1609s myself. As standard the 1609 is not upto the spec of a 1209. Plastic lenses are used. RGB bandwidth is 60Mhz as opposed to 120 on the 1209. Horizontal scan freq. is limited to 59 khz and I don't think the 1609 has dynamic astig. I'm sure somebody in the know could tell you more than I , but its a start.

The 1609 I use was one of Barco's own test machines (march '98). It had HD120 glass lenses, colour corrected C elements & 1209 (120Mhz) backend boards & a few other extras. It will also scan higher.

    Hope this helps.

    Rob.

    Thanks Rob,

That pretty much confirms what I thought.
Just gotta find a good 1209 at a reasonable price when I can afford it.
