Took the plunge on Saturday and bought a PTAE300 + Screen. All my stuff, TV, 3803, DVD players, have extended warranty courtesy of Barclaycard, but when I phoned to register the projector was told they were not covered. Has anyone ever got cover from Barclaycard on a projector ?

Out of interest (as one of Barclaycards major contributors  ) what reasons did they give?

Just told me that projectors were not covered. Perhaps I should have told them it was a DVD viewer ! Was hoping somebody may have got cover using a different terminology. VMax

Nope, they aren't covered. I tried when buying my TW100. No reasons, they just don't do PJs. :(

    Folks..

I had another issue when I registered my 3rd DVD player with them...

They wanted to confirm that it was for single dwelling domestic use... and that I was not a landlord or hotel owner!!

I would really love to read the rules on these issues...

Natwest Cards do the same thing. They give you 1yr additional cover but only on "standard" equipment like Tv's, DVd's, washing machines etc

Plasma's, Rear projections and Projectors are generally not covered. The policy is farmed out to a general insurer (D&G in their case) and not covered by the bank itself.

The nationwide warranty seems alot better, they even confirmed that they would cover on non UK items.

To be honest, my projectors have always been referred to as computer hardware to insurance or whoever.

Unrelated really, but I bought an Apple ipod with Barclaycard and discovered they wouldn't cover it. The guy said something like : Simply because we dont have a repair network set up. I should have asked the tomset one up.
