I've looked for comparisons to dts(only in region 1, I think) and 5.1 but found no definative answer. Is te dts region 1 worth shelling out an extra 20 quid for or is the 5.1 version just or very nearly as good?

Without starting a DTS/DD debate imho it clearly is.

I can hear a difference & not just that it's louder.
Totally agree on other DTS discs there is no difference & on others suffers Lyp Sync.

I actually got the R1 Tin version & the subsequently the R3 Korean version .
The Military limited version on the R3 is superb with all that is with it.
However, with the discs themselves, the menus & actual difference on the soundstage is very marked to say the least !

Hence I now have my R1 tin in the R3 military pack !

Also believe that the R2 doesn't have the "Field" menus that are on the R1 package ?
    Certainly the R3 didn't.

If you liked/loved the series the £20 difference for a R1 Tin version is well worth it imo.

I liked SPR but this is better imo.

Not action all the way & slows down on that score towards the end.
However a lot of character development obviously over 6 discs.

Out of all my DVD's this is probably my Fav ?

The sound on the action sequences are top notch imo.

Worthy of showing on any high end system & in certain parts the sub will likely blow out your windows !

For some reason I haven't heard the DTS soundtrack (will try soon), but even the DD track kicks major butt! :smashin:

You ough to hear the scene where the Rangers jump off the B-29s; one can almost "feel" the anti-craft "flack" at various levels of altitude right in one's room! Of course, the two SVS B4-Plus subbass units help make the listening a truly frightful experience...
