not bad, it's getting cheaper and cheaper..
Its worth every penny.n A great series. I rewatched straight away as soon as I finished the series.
I would pay 3 times this price to own this boxset. If anyone hasn't bought Band of Brothers there's no excuse now.
Is this definately the Tin edition and not the other version?
So it says.
There goes my cc again Still got 72 hours of 24 to watch
Don't expect to ever receive anything from these clowns. I still have an order pending with them from January. They list stuff on their site which they have no hope of ever getting stock of.
I agree, they are rot. Had Alien Quadrilogy on order before XMAS (as they were the cheapest). But what's the point being the cheapest when you are crap...so I paid £5 more and got from a decent place instead. When I called on seperate occasions, I could have sworn the same guy answered the phone call (eventually....after the line ringing for ages, ages and ages!)....hmmm!
Always balance cost with quality of service 101CD (in my experience) is not a condender.
Anybody have any more recent experience of them - have they got any better?
It's onlt £3 more in WHS an no risk of any import duty.
Do you have a link for that, I can only see it for £60 on the WHS web site.
101cd are EU based - no risk of customs from that, surely?
I paid nearly double that for the tin!
It was in-store but not the tin version, sorry.
I have bought CDs from 101cd which they import direct from Far East to you like CD Wow, so be wary of any possible import duty.
Have to agree with others though, their deliverly times can be appaling.
Sorry to be the voice of hope guys and gals but I ordered the R2 Angel Season 4 boxset from them about 3 weeks ago and it arrived within a week, no problems. I hope they follow suit with the Band of Brothers set as I ordered one last night - Fingers Crossed !!!
Can you keep us updated as to whether this definately the "tin" edition.
No Problemo - Will do. Just checked 101's site and it says Stock on Order. This title will be dispatched on or shortly after 22/7/2005. Holdin my breath till then (Not literally obviously).
Also, biggin' up 101 further I did email them to confirm that the Angel boxset was the book edition and they replied with 24 hrs saying it was.
Got my despatch email today. Exactly as promised, so far so good.
I ordered the 7 Disc Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds Set from them about a month ago and recieved it within 3 days so my experience with them has been good.
If they run out its also available for £29.99 at dvd.co.uk http://www.dvd.co.uk/product.asp?id=D025152
Caution if you are eu customer though as some items shipped from
Jersey so you may get done for duty.
Got my your order has been shipped email as well today. When it turns up I'll post what version it is onthe forums.
It was no good, I could resist no longer....ordered tonight
Now down to £26.99 at dvd.co.uk.
I paid £45 for mine and thought that was good at the time. But mine is the R1 with :dts: so it is the better version.
At least you have some justification, I paid £45 for the R2!
Mine arrived this morning from 101CD. Tin version as promised. Nice one!
Me too !! Nice shiny tin version arrived this mornin. Hurrah for 101
Any customs charges from 101cd guys?
Customs charges? They are based in Jersey, no customs charges from there.
for import purposes the Channel Islands are outside the EU, and with items over £18 you are liable for tax on the total (items + shipping)
They must have some deal going on though as there are plenty of companies based in Jersey that send items over £18 to the UK and I have had loads of £18+ items from Play.com, Loaded247 and dvd.co.uk and have never had to pay anything extra.
I believe that they may be rerouted when £18+, so not directly shipped from Jersey, and/or customs not taking too much notice
Why are Amazon Jersey prices even lower?
Amazon Jersey is a wholly-owned member of the Amazon.com group based in Jersey and entirely committed to offering customers the best selection at the lowest prices.
Amazon.co.uk prices include UK VAT. Amazon Jersey prices are lower than Amazon.co.uk prices because: (a) the Isle of Jersey does not charge VAT on products purchased in Jersey; and (b) when products are imported into the UK, VAT is usually payable in the UK by the importer of record (the customer is considered the importer of record in respect of items purchased from Amazon Jersey). However, there are special tax and customs regulations that exempt deliveries of 'low value' goods (goods with a total value below GBP 18) from import VAT. You can find further information regarding the VAT exemption here.
Goods sold by Amazon Jersey are "Community Goods" (i.e. in free circulation in the customs territory of the EU) and should not therefore be subject to customs duties when you import them from Jersey to the UK.
Items sold by Amazon Jersey are dispatched from Jersey and can only be dispatched to locations within the UK (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and all BFPO addresses).
Please note that we have no control over any additional charges for customs clearance and cannot predict what these may be at any time in the future. You are responsible for these charges and for complying with all laws and regulations of the UK Customs Authorities.....
If your delivery address is outside Jersey, the addressee will be the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country into which the products are delivered. The product may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the country of delivery. Any such additional charges levied for customs clearance must be borne by you. Please note that we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be at any time in the future. If you have purchased products for delivery to the UK which have a cumulative value of £18 or less, you may be eligible for an exemption from duty and/or VAT on importation of such products into the VAT territory of the UK.
Customs policies vary widely from country to country; please contact your local customs office for further information. Please note that packages which are being shipped internationally are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities.
Tesco Jersey have a very similar statement on there site but I cant find anything like that on either Play.com or 101cd.com.
On dvd.co.uk they state
and on Loaded247 they state
I havent got a old jiffy bag from Play.com to hand but I am sure that when I used to get the DS9 Boxsets which were £58.99 each there was a label on them saying something like 'Duty & VAT Prepaid', this is probaley what the other companies are doing so that when the items arrive in the UK we dont get charged anything extra.
