Are there any differences between the R2 & R4 boxset and the Region1. Looking to get this one but the R2 is £19.99 at cdwow the Region1 is £59.99. Although i have found it cheaper £42 at dvdsoon just wondering if there is anything on there to make it worth shelling out the extra money for?

..and that is the only different?! Certainly not worth the extra quids / 100% + increase! I have been tempted by getting this from CD-WOW, may take the plunge.

the packaging is also different, the one on cd-wow comes in a 6-disc amaray case (it's the australian R4/2) whereas the UK R2 comes in a Digipak (or a tin if you can find it) as does the US one. Last of all is the Korean one which comes in a replica military bag with all sorts of novelty bits and pieces, but that ones a lot more expensive!

    here's an online comparison. http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2171

other than the dts track and the packaging there's not a lot of difference, so if you're just after getting to watch the show without paying an extortionate price, the one on cd-wow is the way to go :)

I agree, packaging is not THAT important - especially if it increases the overall price by such an amount!

i was lucky in that i bought the R2 uk digipak off someone on the forums along with AvP (sealed) for £25, otherwise i definitely would have gone for the CD-WOW one.

I think I was the luckiest!! I got a brand new sealed tin pack of this for EUR 19.99 in Karstadt (a German retail chain) around 6 months ago...a week later it was back to EUR 49.99 (which itself was a discount price)....the packaging is really awesome...plus only a German language sleeve...rest everything in English!!

This is so good that when you actually get round to watching it ( ) the packaging is so unimportant that you start to think why bother paying more than £17.99 from cdwow. That price is so low it's incredible.

I would normally go for the cheaper price too - but there was something about the tin edition that it just had to be mine! :D

For the cheaper price its a bargain - I would rate it as probably the best mini-series I have ever seen. Its miles better than most of the feaure films that are released nowadays.

This has been recommended to me by a few people.

Is this the type of thing you'd watch more than once?

For example I'm working my way through day 1 of 24 by renting. I'm really enjoying it but it's definitely the type of thing I'd only watch once.

I'm just debating whether to fork out 19 quid to buy BoB or 9 quid to rent...PJ

Are you mad? BOB is worth every bit of the £39 I paid when it first came out. For £17.99 it is literally THE bargain of all time IMO. This is a must own. MUST. Have you seen any of it at all? Don't want to sound patronising, but you will watch it over and over. Forget renting it. BUY IT :lease:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185906/ratings ranked higher than Star Wars, The Godfather and lord of the overrated rings, that'll be the BOB.

Wow didn’t realise that – if only they incorporated it into the 250 list. It’d be the clear leader!

Nope, not seen any of it, not even a trailer / advert etc.

Methinks I'll order it from CDWOW then!

I remember watching it, on the off chance, some time ago on tele and I was hooked and watched it to the end. Cannot wait to get this bargain from CDWOW and re-experience it in 5.1.

Although i have to admit that region 3 looks great

"BOB Guide Book, Eisenhower Message, German Strategy Map in Normandy, 9 items of D-Day memorabillia, Military necklace & Serial Number Card "

Only 6000 made though so probably quite hard to track down.

I'll just echo what everyone else is saying, this is a MUST. I got the R1 tin shortly after release, and consider it a bargain at the £40 I paid for it. I have lost count of the number of times I've watched it.

The dts track is great, but the dolby is no slouch either, at £18 this has to be one of the bargains of the year.

I spent out on the R1 purely for the DTS sound track. It's not worth the difference for the price at cdwow.Cant go wrong for 19.99.

CDWOW say it's packaged in a single amaray case. Can 6 discs be fitted in a single case?!...PJ

Ive just grabbed a tin version of ebay for under £30, so quite happy with that, Im a sucker for packaging and didnt fancy a 6 disc Amaray case, had seen the tins in HMV for £34 a few weeks ago and was really tempted then, wish I had now.

Damn this thread for getting me to part with more money!! lol

The tin sounds a nice idea, but for price - can the CDWOW be beaten?
