    Hi,

I was looking at a cheap and convenient way to carry audio and video signals over long distance (around 20m, 66ft). I stumbled over these:
    http://www.svideo.com/svideobalun.html
    http://www.kvms.com/nav/item.asp?item=8560
    http://www.hometech.com/video/videopwr.html
    http://www.videocapturecard.com/svideobalun2.html
    etc...
They are baluns, that basically allow a CAT5 cable (110 Ohm) to act as a cable of another impedance (75 ohm in svideo case). It is very cheap given the price of CAT5 these days... Not mentionning my house is already wired with CAT5, hence my need.

I would need to carry three signals over a single CAT5e cable (4 twisted pairs): SVideo SPDIF and USB, so I need to build one of my own (unless someone knows of such a balun)

Where could I find resources over this ?

A belated welcome to the forum :)

Did you get anywhere with your project? I'm also after audio baluns, and USB extenders, and I'm finding them pretty expensive.

I tested a huge range of baluns a while ago, nice stuff. What do you want to know.

Hey Nic, I've just popped a post somewhere else for your attention. Personally, I'm wanting to send analogue stereo over my Cat5 network. I haven't researched Cat5 as speaker cable, but I assume it needs to be terminated in a different way to my Cat5 sockets. So I've kept my eye on the Baluns. £68 from Madnat for stereo seems a bit much, but how did you find them?

I imagine others will be interested in the s-video baluns too.
