I have a second hand Silvercrest DVD player which will play shop-bought DVD's, but will not play my home-recorded DVD's. It states, 'bad disk'. Anyone have a solution? Is this something to do with DVD +/- complications? These home DVD's work perfectly on 2 other machines (not Silvercrest).

Yes, there are always potential compatibility issues with self-burned DVDs not being recognized.
You need to closely check the players manual which formats it supports and still you will have no guarantee it will work.
I suggest to burn a -R or a +R depending what does not play currently.

Hello nwgarratt, a Silvercrest DVD player KH6778.
BTW Spooney, I have checked manual and it does not state any DVD preference.

Same as mine. I have played plenty of DVD-R, DVD+RW's and DL+R's without any problems.
