I know that copy+ can be used to backup the internal hard drive of a Sky + or SKY+ HD box... however it cannot be played back on a pc.

Are there any methods without using a component or HDMI capture card to take this content and play it back on my PC?

The Hauppauge HD-PVR is the only unit for backing up SKY HD but only if you have component outputs on your Sky box. Early Thompson boxes have component outputs. You didn't say which type of HD box you had?

I have a samsung one.. so no component outputs... i should have asked for the older thompson box but i heard they were plagued with problems... but component would have been rather useful considering im really struggling for HDMI inputs on my amp.... :thumbsdow
