I use Ghost. A lot of people go for Acronis.

Some older versions of Ghost (2003) don't like SATA, as I found out  Even after a full operating system restore with those horrible disks they give you (or expect you to make yourself) I had a poxy 8mb partition for ghost which was a complete pain to get rid of. I'm sure with newer versions they'll have fixed these issues. I would still never buy another Norton product tho.

I've had no problems with Acronis on the 2 occasions I've had to use it. Well worth the money. Bring back proper operating system disks!!!!!!!

When I am ghosting a disk I boot from the cd - just to ensure a 'clean' backup.
