I can buy a set of one year old 803's for about half price and am inclined to do it. The problem however is that if I have to buy a centre to fit in I will have to buy the new series HTM3S as the Nautilus HTM1 is no longer available. So it will be old series fronts and new series centre.
Will there be a problem with tonal matching?.

The tweaters and the midrange are the same, but the base has changed, plus also (apparently) improved crossovers etc.

Secondly, if my budget did not allow now for a 800 series centre, would a LCR600 be a total mismatch to the 803?.

Althought I have not heard those speakers, I really doubt you would notice any difference with the 800 series centre. Can you not somehow try these speakers in your set up?

Keep your eye out for a HTM1, I'm sure there will be quite a few up for sale as people upgrade. On here and eBay I've seen them. That's how I got mine :)
