Hi, I am planning on getting B&W speakers LM1 for my home theatre system. Initially, I was recommended by the shop assistant Denon receiver (1908). He said that the B&W speakers sound soft while Denon receivers are more "crisp" or "hard", therefore they recommend combining them to avoid too hard or too soft sound. But I can get good price on Pioneer receiver (either 917 or 1017), from other shop, but I don't know if the Pioneer receiver isn't too soft. Then I would get too soft sound, which might be a disappointment (for the money I will spend). Because the speakers and the receiver come from different shops I can't test them, before buying them. Could anyone advice me on hardness/softness of pioneer receivers?
