Anyone using B&W DM604s ? Does one need a BIG poweramp to drive those as main ,without sub ? I have a Kenwood KRF-V5560 and am about to purchase some 2nd hand 604s . I just wonder if my Kenwood can handle these ? The amp is listed 5 X 100 Watt ,but that's an overstatement. It's just about right for my DM570s and I'm affraid the 604 needs some more power. After all it has 1 mid and 2 low freq drivers instead of just one mid / low for the dm570. Cheers, Herman.
The new 604 S3's are very easy to drive (8 ohms and 90 db spl), so I would assume their older siblings to be similar. You are unlikely to damage them. Whether your amp is in the same league soundwise as the 604's is another question
I'm fully aware it's not in the same league I see it more or less as an investment for the future . Thing is : I just bought the amp ,I like it and want to keep it at least a couple more years.
An understatement of the output at reference level IMO would be around 50W RMS & those B&W's will be just fine with 60W. Kenwood amps are often little power-houses anyway. Use the Kenwood with confidence. The speakers look fantastic too!
Thanks for the advice . Meanwhile I found a usefull review on the web ,quoting : B&Ws have not historically been known for their high efficiency ratings, however these 90 dB 604s can rock and roll on a 50 watt-per-channel Rotel integrated amp. Guess I should be fine with my amp for now. Can't wait untill the weekend to get these Cheers, Herman.
Hi just wondered what conections are on the back of your Kenwood KRF-V5560,if theres optical? & what you think to this reciever for home cinema as ive seen it online knocked down to £49.99,many thanks
