    Hi all,

Long time lurker... I'm looking at a pair of b&w cm1s and was hoping to get some advice on an amp match.

I'm not going to go 5.1 so don't think an integrated amp should be fine. Looking in the region if £200 (incl second hand) so not much room to manoeuvre.

I've heard that rotel amps pair well with b&ws, do you think the rotel ra 04se has enough power to feed these speakers? I live in a flat so am not going to drive them hard!

Thanks for your advice in advance, I'm a bit new to all this

Yes, that shouldn't be a problem. Rotel amps are conservatively. Unless space is an issue, you can better it by adding a power amp later.

As I've been banging on a bit for now, power isn't about volume. Its about smoothness, richness and dynamism.

The CMs are not that sensitive but very precise and capable speakers. They do well with loads of power. And youcan't really blow a speaker with too much power unless you crank it all the way up. In which case you would have blown your eardrums anyway and so won't matter.
