I've always wanted an ASW675 since I got my speakers, which are as follows:

    Mains B&W DM602 s3
    Centre B&W LCR600 s3
    Surrounds B&W DM601 s3

    I've got a reasonable sized room which is about 5m x 3.5m, 2.7m ceiling.

A second hand ASW675 is comparable in price to some of the newer B&W subs available on the second hand market, so I'm wondering how they compare in terms of performance.

I'm a fan of multi channel music (SACDs etc) so both music and movie performance is important to me.

I like the idea of matching my speakers and am a fan of the B&W brand (hence my preference to B&W) and I also like the look of the 675...

What I would appreciate is any feedback anyone can give me that has owned a 675 and has been able to compare it directly with any of the newer models.

    Thanks in advance,

    Charles.

I would suggest looking at bk electronics for a sub as they are very good value for money. Both the xxls400 and monolith will be great for movies and music. B&W make good speakers but not amazing value for money. If you want to spend more the look at dedicated sub manufacturers like REL odd svs etc.

I had a asw675 when they first cams out a few years ago wasn't overly impressed with it , could have been my setup but I think the newer bk subs are brilliant for the money I'm getting a xlss400. in the next few weeks as I'm 50/50 film music use .

If I was mainly into films I'd go monolith

    Thanks for your reply's.

I wanted to spend in the region of £250 on something 2nd hand...

I also forgot to add that WAF is also important! This means not too big and ideally something that will match with the lounge decor (as in my avatar - another reason for looking at the B&W in sorrento). Also, the wife isn't impressed by rattling windows and the kids asleep upstairs won't like the floors shaking lol so going mega low and loud isn't totally necessary!
