Hi all,

I would like to add a subwoofer to my setup which consists of the following:
Marantz SR7011 AV Receiver
B&W CM8 S2 Fronts
B&W CM Centre S2

Later on I would like to add a Rotel RA1570 int. amp for stereo but first I like to add a sub.

My music / movies ration is about 60/40 respectively.

My first thought was obviously the ASW10CM S2 sub but after some research I start to also read great stories about Rythmik and SVS.

The B&W sub I could get for around € 1250
The SVS SB2000 for € 750
The Rythmik F12 for €1200 and the F15 for €1330

My room is about 40 square meter. It is an open rectangular space of 4.2. x 9.8m and only 20 square meter is TV + music area.

The price for the SVS SB2000 is very appealing to me but I am still in doubt if that is the best choice. I would love to hear your thoughts. It is quite a big price difference for me.

SVS SB2000 would get lost there, that is large open space. Same would apply for the small 10" B&W sub which is overpriced anyway.

Let`s call our Rythmik specialist here @fayeanddavid , he owns one and can help. :)

If it was my money,i would choose F15 from those definitely for such a large space and be prepared to add second one later. I think most of people would recommend dual subs for the space you have. As you listen more music than movies, i guess sealed sub is decided then and Direct Servo design should be one of the best. Anyway if the decision would come to F12 and F15, there is no question about which you should pick. Price difference is very small. But Faye will tell more..

Arendal subs might be slightly out of your budget, but check them still. Very popular in Europe and no suprise as build quality is superb!

PowerSoundAudio (PSA) has some intresting models which you should look also. They can be ordered from UK to NL. PSA is as popular in US as Rythmik.

US main site has chat at right low corner. Tom Vodhanel is there daily at some point (now online). Open the chat and have a talk with him. He has the knowledge and with the info you give to him, he can recommend which model would be best in your room and he also can compare PSA models to Rythmik ones, which he always speak highly of.

Best endeavours tomorrow..............thanks. (hic)

Thanks for the info so far.
Would the SVS SB-2000's work if I placed 2 instead of 1 or would the room still be too big?
I currently live in China and not everything is available here (i.e. PSA) and prices are much higher most of the time than elsewhere cause of high import taxes. The prices I mentioned are converted to Euro but are based on the local price here.
SVS PB-2000 or anything else from SVS (except SB-2000) is way above my budget here as they charge double or triple the price almost as what we would pay in Europe or the US.
€ 1330 for the Rythmik F15 seems more reasonable to me than €2180 for the SVS PB-2000.

I'm looking forward to @fayeanddavid advice.

I’ve had my FV15HP for almost 3 years now I guess, absolute stalwart in terms of performance with 9 option for both 2 port or 1 port open, for the F15 then this would be 9 I think plus PEQ Control if required.
I have a moderate size room, 5.5 x 4.0m, with an open staircase to the bedrooms.
My sub more than fills this space way down into the teens hz however I have mine set up for HT so probably 20hz up is where it shines, great depth with good impact.
I would expect an F15 to give similar depth at similar SPL but probably improve slam in the 40hz up
Great products from Rythmik, great team behind the product, and that is a really excellent price you have there, I wouldn’t hesitate at that price!!
Agree with you that Tom at PSA has good words for Rythmik, high respect between both companies I think
Go for the Rythmik, you won’t be disappointed at all

How would the XTZ 12.17 (€1000) or SUB 1x12 (€1200) compare to the above and would they suit my needs as well for my room size?
Interesting prices also

These models are ported, but can also be played as sealed (though not as good as sealed design) as the ones you looked from Rythmik are sealed. You would still need two of these as minimum for the size room you have and still might be left hungry for movies as i imagine XTZ owners has around ~20sqm rooms normally, give or take. 12" ported sub is still quite "small" when talking about subs in general.

The prices are.. terrible!! At EU shop these cost 645€ and 845€. Import taxes.. :(

SVS PB2000 - 2180€.:suicide: How that can be? SB2000 is 750€. In US the price difference is only 100$. Maybe there is some error with the price, it can`t be true.

If Faye says you have excellent prices for Rythmik subs there, i think you should look those really. Doesn`t make sense to pay hell of lot extra for taxes either.. You can always contact the man behind Rythmik and tell them what you are after & room size etc. They will know best! You can also ask the US guys which model they have in large spaces, as some of those guys change subs very often so they have experience with them; http://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-s...-official-rythmik-audio-subwoofer-thread.html

Unfortunately it is true. I have checked several sources and websites in China. I also don't understand how it is possible. A SB13-Ultra for example costs €4100!! It are crazy prices and it doesn't make any sense to me that only the SB2000 seems reasonably priced. Anyway, it is the way it is.

I think the F15 is the best value and still reasonably priced.

Imported myself, via Rhythmik and a shipping agency close by to Rythmik in Austin, pay in dollars for sub an shipping, then 5% UK duty and 20% VAT on landed cost
So whatever it costs in pounds (£) to buy and ship, add another 25% for UK taxes
Think I got mine here for around £1300 landed, if that helps?

Thanks - they do seem cracking value subs with big performance to match

Yes indeed, very strong following also in the US with the technology they use.
I thought a few times to see if there is better and on the two occasions I thought I would Tom V of PSA no less said stay with what you’ve got, they are that good.
And here I am, still a Rthymik owner, great sub and great value!
