    Hi

I have recently purchased the B&W ASW1000 sub from my local Superfi as my HC set up comprises as follows.

    SONY 32FX60(S) WEGA TV
SONY 725(D) DVD PLAYER (R2 ONLY) BLACK
    YAMAHA DSPE800 PROCESSOR
    ROTEL RMB 1075 POWER AMP ( 5 x 120 WATTS )
    B&W 603 FRONT L & R SPEAKERS
    B&W LCR60 CENTRE SPEAKER
    B&W 602 (S2) REAR L & R SPEAKERS
    B&W ASW1000 SUBWOOFER
SPEAKER CABLE FOR FRONTS AND CENTRE USED IS AUDIOQUEST TYPE 6.
SPEAKER CABLE FOR REARS CABLE TALK 3.1
INTERCONNECTS FROM PROCESSOR TO POWER AMP VAN DEN HUL D102 MK III
COAX CABLE VAN DEN HUL THE SECOND FROM DVD TO PROCESSOR

Before I added the sub the sound wasn't as dynamic and wide as it should be for both movies and music.

After adding the sub I am able to get a real full blooded sound from all speakers as the sub handles the LFE but it also souds a lot sweeter with a lot more information from the movie soundtrack coming through.

I can definitely recommend the sub in your current hook up , just remember to set all your speakers to SMALL and for the LFE to be routed throught the sub only, oh and don't buy any expensive phono cable just use a normal one it works just as well.

    Good luck

    Hi Me Again

Just to let you know that you can check out all the details on the 2 subs at the website :

The asw500 is not magnetically shielded while the asw1000 is.

My room measures around 14 m x 14m and my sub is placed approx in the middle of the room next to a wall and it makes my sofa shake just from that position with the sub vol set at about 1/3 cut off frequency is arround 55 hertz on the sub.

Boom shake , shake the room !!

    Big sinky,
The sub is very large.Has massive power reserves, much more than the specs would show.
It also supplies very good deep bass. However being a ported 12",it wont provide bass as sharp as a smaller driver of similar quality.eg;asw2500.But it will reach lower.
It depends whether you're leaning towards mocies or music.

The ASW 500 is £350 and the ASW 1000 is £500.

They are to be replcaed some time soon with the newer ASW600 and 650, same prices and improved performances and cosmetics to match the 600 S3 speakers.
