Anybody got any specs/prices on these new speakers ??

Are they a CDM replacement ??

I guess to slot in above the 600 series and below the 800 ??

Can't see them going below the CMs ??

I was looking at the CDMs for when we move house and I can get back to a 'big' room again !!

    TIA

    Jon

I heard about them a few weeks back but was told to keep stum by a dealer i know.

He was going to a launch party in Brighton (if i remember correctly). He didnt know any prices but told me they were to replace the CDM range.

Thats why there are so many of them going for good prices at the moment. I also read somewhere they were thinking of phasing out the CM series but i am not too sure about that.

So do you think there are bargains to be had in the CDM range? If you can get 50% off then i dont think you could go far wrong with a pair of CDM1's and a sub. Or even a pair of 7's or 9's if you have the quality to drive em.

I don't think it would matter if the CM range disappeared, i was never that impressed by them anyway. The best speakers in the CDM NT range are the 1, C and S. The 7 and 9 never got me excited, espeically as the 9 costs more than the 805.

Would be very interested to see them. Wonder if they'll still have the bread-bin style.:D

I would agree with that... Even moreso as i am on the verge of picking up a pair of CDM1's and a CDMcnt for close to 50% off. To go with my lovely new sub by the way

I would like to know some more about it though.. Prices and specs would be very handy

I saw an ad on the inside front cover throw-out on this months what hifi when I was in Gatwick at the weekend ...

Is it worth doing a bit of CDM hunting for 50% off and then keeping them boxed until next year ??

    Jon,

Thats not something i can really answer. There would be arguments for and against that idea. I personally think there very good speakers and if you do a bit of hunting you can find them for v good prices at the moment.

Some people would argue that there old technology and thats why there being replaced... I am not too sure....

Would you feel the upgrade rush when the 700 series came out?

Will the 700 series utilise the same level of technology and build which is evident in the cdms?

The style looks to be something of a push towards the 800 styling. Looks pretty nice.

    Got some prices ... 705 - £900, 704 - £1400, 703 - £2000, HTM7 - £500, DS7 - £900 ... don't seem too bad prices as cdm replacements ... just have to wait until someone's got some in to give them a spin ;-)

Tis indeed :). I was looking at the specs of the CDM1's and the 705's and they are pretty similar. They even weigh exaclty the same amount.

I am not too sure if its worth the hike in price especially if your going to be coupling them with a sub. I suppose we will need someone to do a side by side comparison.

having just looked at specs for 705 vs cdm1nt the specs are slightly differant ,

    cdm1nt sensitivity is 88d 20-60hz

    705 sensitivity 89 db 25-46 hz

so it would appear the 705s would be easier to drive and go lower , but are £150 dearer than original cdm1nts at £750.
