I know these are both deigned to be used in different ways but i've been looking at 601s then saw the VM1s and they're going to fit in the room much better

The question is, will the 5" driver on the VM1s be enough? Think they're really designed to be used with the AS1 sub but money doesnt allow for that.

Should also add here, are the 601 S3 suitable for use near a tft pc monitor?

    Thanks
    Ben

Magnets don't effect TFT's so no worry about interfierence.

You will have to have a sub with the LM1, VM1 or M1. as the combinaion of small drivers and low cabinet volume mean very little bass. Look at the specs, you will probably find that the low frequency respose only starts from 80Hz or so.

The 601 is designed as a full range speaker so will probably sound better if used without a sub.

    Horses for courses I'm afraid.

    Thanks, quick question...

I really do love the depth of a subwoofer, the one on my pc apparently goes down to 35Hz.

    The B&W 601 S3 claim 60Hz

Is this a big difference or not? The sub on my pc speakers isn't too bad, would like to have something similar in performance

    Thanks
