Does anyone know if the tweeters in the B&W 603s2 are the same as in the 601s2 . The tweeters in my 603,s have been pushed in and i was wondering if i could just use the ones out of my old 601s2's .

Thanks

I don't know if they are the same but I had the same problem with my S3s, turns out that is a dust cover and not the tweeter.
The tweeter is sat behind it.

Was about £20 to replace.

The tweeter is identical throughout the 600 range.
(ED except the CC6 I think)

I guess you are refering to the diaphram that has been pushed in. With many cloth tweeters this is not a problem but with the metal domes that B&W use it can cause cracks even if you can get the dome looking right.

It is not very esy to change the diaphram on the 600 series as you need to remove the bass driver to unscrew the tweeter from behind.

By all means have a go, you should be able to do it with a bit of spare time.

The 601 tweeters should be fine.

Actually, no they aren't the same.
The S3s supposedly have a redesigned (by how much I'm not sure) tweeter to extend high end response for DVDA/SACD.
Whether this will equate to any real audible differences though, I don't know.

The thing is, just because it looks very similar/the same, doesn't mean it is the same - it could have very different properties. Then again, it could have virtually identical properties too.
I guess only B&W will be able to tell you for sure - but if they are sufficiently different, some crossover reworking may be necessary to get things spot on.
You need to know a few things (there's more to it, but from a replacement perspective, you can probably get away with knowing just the following)
Are the sensitivities the same?
Is the impedance the same?
Is the low end roll off similar?

Three "yeses" to those questions, and you'll "probably" not be able to tell any real difference!

It would appear both his speakers are from the Series 2.

And yes you are right that the S1, S2 and S3 all have different tweeters.

Yes, you are right.
That will teach me to read properly (although I do wish companies wouldn't keep regurgitating the same old model numbers over and over again, 601S2, 602S1, 602S3, 603S2 - it's enough to make you start squinting :) :) )

I was of course, for some strange reason, under the impression that he wanted to replace the tweeters in S3 models with those from S2 speakers. As both are S2 models, then as you say, then it should be OK.
