My brother has just picked up this tv but when playing dvds the colour seem to fade in and out slightly. Any ideas would be appreciated.

maybe you have DNIE on, I think this causes the picture to play up?

No it doesn't. Thats very misleading for people. DNIE actualy improves the picture. You can't turn it off unless you delve into the service menu, even then it would be unadvisable.

I think he means Dynamic Contrast, which makes everything look crap, basically. :)

DNIe does anything but improve the picture, and cannot be disabled, even in the service menu. :thumbsdow Even with sharpness set to 0 you'll still get tons sharpening of artifacts ("halos") thanks to it.

I don't get any Halo effects on my set??? If you turn the demo on you can see the improvements. Well I can. I don't turn the sharpness down to zero either, it's about 45.
I'll agree Dynamic setting is a bit bright, but I have no problems with any of the other enhancements including DC,
