Best speaker cable for long runs for multioom speakers not too dear!
Needs to be good quality as will be going through a Qed speaker switch and then volume control, is the van damme stuff suitable and how much per m.
Does it need to have low resistance and capacitance for long runs, all help appreciated :lease:

    Is anybody out there ?

Come on guys someone must have some ideas or will any old cable do or does the dia of the cable make a difference to impedance over a long run and sound quality.

well as your using a cheap switch box and a variable resistir to control them i would just use whatever is too hand i always try to spec 4 core multiroom cable for a nice clean install (some installs require LSOH sheath) but cheap GALE biwire from RS will probably be fine, check the cable (not coiled up) before running it to make sure up to 20m you should be ok over that more thought perhaps
this at 95p a metre is ideal http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/SPC02.html
try and buy a reel, if you need 50+m then a reel may well work out easier and cheaper what are your MR plans anyway?

    Horny to the rescue!

Are there any better in wall switch boxes and volume controls? or are the qed ones ok!

Plus if i have to spend about a £1pm the i would use the van damme stuff

Just to add i will be running two sets of cables from the amp connection one going to a qed on/off switch for the patio and one to a volume control for the kitchen then to the speakers this is all being controlled by a linn rcu in the kitchen for source selection etc. This is a fairly basi(k) setup but cost effective for my needs currently.

TBH the QED stuff is probably the best stuff around for the job (where are you BTW) and how may meters will you need? assuming you want to run 2 Rooms as additional rooms from the Linn, let me have links for all the kit and I'll have a look at it all mate...

    Hi horny,

Is not that they are not compatable but merely only will pass only 20w max.
