I just bought the AX5i and am very impressed so far, i am using the 757ai DVD player using the I link for DVD and CD, my question is: - is there a way of having the mode change automatically, at the moment if i play a DVD i change it to movie mode, if i play a CD i then have to change it back to Stereo mode, is there a setting that will do this automatically? If not i was thinking of getting another i link cable and connecting a second link to the amp to a different function, ie have CD and DVD functions with two separate i link connections and the correct settings for each, is this possible? A|ny other ideas on how to sort this out will be very much appreciated!!!

    Cheers

What you want to do is not possible.
The 2 iLINK sockets on the CD player are for daisy-chaining and are not 2 separate outputs.
I use phono cables connected to the CD phono inputs for CD and iLINK for DVD.
I use the DIRECT setting for CD so iLINK is irrelevant anyway.

Thanks Brogan! i liked the direct setting but as i understand it, it cuts out the sub and i like to use my sub for music as well. I was thinking of using phonos into the CD function of the amp, i think thats probably the best way to do it! Once again thanks for your help!!!

If the AX5 is like the 2011 in this respect (which I think it is) then it's only the speaker size that determines whether the sub low level out is active or not.
I think if speakers are set to small then the low level sub out will be active, both in direct & stereo (this is certainly the case with my 2011).

In other words, with speakers set to small, direct is not as "direct" as it might be - there will still be some bass management going on.

    Hope this helps :)

Direct mode bypasses MCACC Eq and hi-bit circuitry, if you're using 2 small speakers plus sub it'll still use the sub OK.

It would be nice to do what you've suggested Jon but I too have a 757Ai/AX5i combo and just have to toggle between music and movie modes depending on what type of disc I've inserted.
