    Hi

    Got my new AX10i yesterday:D :D :D :D

Could not connect it up properly though, i'm still waiting for some speakers to arrive next week.

I would like to know at what levels any other owners listen to things like :

    DVD
    CD
    TV

I connected only two speakers yesterday ( only ones i had that moment), and although they were not nearly adequite, i found that i had to turn the volume up quite a bit ( between -10db and 0db ) to get a decent volume level from the AMP.

If the volume starts at -80db, thats a long way to turn it up to get a decent level isn't it ? Or does it depend on the speaker as well ( which i assumed was the case )

Any comments are welcomed by fellow AX10i owners

PS...... This is a CRACKING amp, and looks and sounds the business non the less !!!!!!!!!:D   :D

I can never understand the answers that deal with this issue myself.

I have an AX10, driving Kef ref 1's, Kef surrounds in a 6.1 set up. I noticed that I tend to crank this up to -10 for ideal setting....where as my previous Denon AVC-1D (140 watts) was ideal at aroung -15 .

The AX10 is rated at 170 watts and not sure why this is the case ? is it that the pioneer can go even higher, or sound better highter than the Denon....does the volume rating matter ?

either way it sounds great ?

Either you guys are deaf or I have sensitive hearing. My 2011 sounds loud at -20. It is calibrated using MCACC and -20 gives about 85 db, peaking up to around 90 and dipping down to 80 on a DVD.

This is measured at a distance of about 8 feet from the front speakers.

Well like i said....i don't have the speakers i will actually use connected yet, so i cannot say how loud it will go before it's unbearable.

Guess I'll have to wait until it's connected properly

    BTW - I'm not deaf ( or at least i think so !!;) )

    Cheers

I was getting paranoid about this on my 2011 as well. DVDs at -15 seem really high to me.. I quickly realised that there where so many variables from the DVD itself, speakers, DVD player settings how bad your hearing is etc..... just stopped worrying about it now!

    Gents.

Be at peace with yourselves (man! etc etc).
I currently run 4500w in the front room (inclusive of sub's) and still run the volume between -10 to 0db.
this has nothing to do with "how big" your amps are, only how far off of the reference 0db you wish to listen at.
When callibrated to (dolby/THX/whatever) 75/85/whatever db the volume will (by and large) be exactly the same whether you have 100 or 1000 watts the only difference will be whether the amp can actually drive the speakers to that level, not the level itself.
