AVR300: Problems with digital inputs

I have a brand new AVR-300. It is wired and configured for pure 2-speaker operation.

Occationally, it looses digital inputs. It has got both optical and coax from TV set-top receiver and DVD. Some of the times, it sounds like a fax machine. Sometimes it is just silent. The display is always showing analog input when this is happening. It might help to switch to an analog source, and back, but not always.

Any ideas, anybody?

Probably an issue with the DSP board. It's not the first time I read about it. As it is brand new, send it back for replacement
