Leaning towards buying the AVR300 for my HT system that's being put together from scratch.

If you bi-amp your two fronts on the AVR300, what happens when you press Direct?

If I understand the Direct button correctly, it turns off all digital circuits so that you have only 2 channel anologue stereo from the audio inputs only. So does that mean the speaker output for channels 6&7 used in bi-amping aren't powered when you press Direct? This would render the use of bi-amping and Direct together a no no on the AVR300. True?

    Thanks.

This feature must not be part of the DSP because bi-amping does indeed work when in direct mode.

    When i had a 300 i initially had my fronts bi-amped through 6 & 7.

Worked a treat in Direct mode. :smashin:

There are 7 discrete channels of amplification in the AVR300. Biamping is just a case of routing the analogue signal to 4 instead of 2 of those amps. This should not require any major DSP algorithms to decypher.

The thing to note is that with bi-amping, both amps are fed with the same signal - there is no electronic crossover before the power-amps.

This is different from multi-amping in pro PA systems, where you have mulit-way electronic crossovers in front of the multiple power amps.
