I've been told that I should connect my CD player to the AVR200 via a digital link as opposed to the analogue links as the AVR200 converts the analogue to digital then back again through its own DAC – is this true? If so then there seems no point in using anything other than a transport?

The AVR200 has an automatic analogue bypass internally. So it will not convert your DAC input back to digital unless you want to use any of the surround modes on the input.

I would try it both ways as depending on how good your CD player is you may prefer the AVR200 internal DACs anyway.

Thanks for the info - regarding the bypass - do you know if this is true of the AVR100 as well?
