    Hi All

I have just got a 2nd hand avr100 which I was planing to use with my Marantz pm7200. But I find the avr100 performs so well in stereo, I am wondering if I even need the PM7200 at all.

The only thing is I think that maybe the pm7200 has a slight edge, if I where to add a arcam power amp to the fronts of the avr100 would this an edge over the pm7200. Note my speakers don't bi-wire.

Any suggestions / Comments would be great

    Regards

    James

are you using the PM7200 as power amp for front pair with the 2802?
I would spend more on front speakers to get the best out of the AVR100 before going the power amp route!

Yes I was using the PM7200 with the 2802, but I now have an AVR100 to replace the 2802.
IMHO the AVR100 is the best receiver I have had so far for stereo and I have a few receivers in my time (Technics DX930, Marantz SR4200, Marantz SR5300, Yamaha RX630, Pioneer VSX 908, Denon AVC A1D and a Denon AVR 2802).

I listen to more Music (CD and DVDA/SACD), than watching movies.

As regards to speakers I may upgrade in the future.

sell both and see what you get i like the 7200 as a stereo amp and makes a nice 2 channel end to an AV system but i think money in speakers will give you the biggest up in performance.
    Or just buy more Discs!
I am not an arcam expert but thats my "2 cents"

On further comparison, I prefer the more smooth sound of the Arcam.
The bass seems a little better with the arcam also.

I am now wondering why I did not get an avr100 ages ago , it's the most musical av receiver I have ever had.

If the AVR100 is this good, the AVR300 must be great.

It is. I upgraded to one from an AVR200, and couldn't be more pleased. Big improvement in sound acroos the board, plus loads of extra functionality (PLIIx, more mgt features, component video support, etc.).
