Ill try to give you guys as much info as possible so here goes.

Room is one end of open plan house, 4m x 4m roughly. left hand side of 5.1 system open to the rest of the house, so not ideal for 5.1 but it will do for the main area we all watch TV together.

TV is mid range 4k - non-HDR LG, and primary inputs are Xbox One X, PS3, Nintendo Switch, Crestron DMedia end point & Apple TV (gen3, will upgrade to 4k later).

Looking to add 4K support, so i can enjoy the Xbox One X and 4k blu-rays.

Speakers are Tannoy Area's satalites, and Rel Q250e sub.

    budget is about £500.

options seem to be Sony STRDN1080, Denon AVRX-2400H, Onkyo TXNR676 (although a little over budget)...

which would be the recommended one to go for? (or something else?)

One caveat is needing to control the AVR from either RS232 or IP; RS232 support would be good for the Crestron DMedia endpoint control, although over IP control would work too.

    Thanks in advance!

forgot to add, i would normally just go Denon as i have a lovely AVR 4310, and AVR 3306 in other locations in the house but i have heard some horror stories about Denons more recently involving failed power supplies? is that right, or should i go with the Denon?

Richer sounds are doing 6 year grantee for 50quid extra

I think for RS232 control you might have to look at higher up range models and for that may find last years models to be cheapest for eg, Yamaha RX-A860 or for this year maybe Denon AVR-X3400, Yamaha RX-V870. Marantz may be worth a look as well.

I think most have control over IP these days.

yeah, maybe, i will be programming it myself, i just feel happier with RS232 control than IP :) im probably just being lazy!
still cant decide between the Sony, Denon & Onkyo though!!! Argh!
