noticed on the arcam web-site they state an output for the avr300 into 4ohm loads, am using mk speakers which are all 4 ohm except for the centre rear, seems my denon 3802 is struggling to drive them, would like to replace my amp/receiver very soon and was wondering if the 300 would be any good for driving the mks

I can't comment on other brands but I can say the AVR300 is designed to drive 4 ohm loads at 100 WPC, all channels driven simultaneously. I would therefore expect it to work properly in your set up.

    Hi John,

I have Mission speakers - 78n models (see below for specific models), PDF files on the www.mission.co.uk website talk about them as being "8ohms compatible (min 5.6)"...

...will the AVR300 work ok with these speakers, biwired ?

    Many thanks for your assistance.

Nik - yes the AVR300 will work just fine with your speakers; you should be able to use the 8 ohms setting on the amplifier, which delivers the most voltage swing.

Biwiring is fine - if you have a 5.1 rather than a 7.1 system then you can assign the two spare power amps to the L and R front channels and passively bi-amp them, which should sound even better.

    HTH.
